Visiting the website
When any page is requested, the web server processes connection data such as the IP address, date and time, the requested address including its parameters and the browser identifier, in order to deliver the page and secure operation. Calculator inputs are part of the address and may therefore appear in server logs.
No analytics services
We use no analytics or tracking services. Fonts, icons and the site’s scripts are loaded from our own server; the only exception is advertising (see next section). Share links (e.g. X, LinkedIn) and links to issuer websites only transmit data to that service when you click them.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
This website is funded by advertising. For this we use Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. On pages with ads, your browser loads scripts from Google servers and in doing so transmits to Google in particular your IP address, the page visited, browser and device information and the time. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar identifiers, including under this website’s domain, to serve ads, limit how often they are shown, detect fraud and measure their effectiveness. Google only shows ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites (personalised advertising) with your consent. We ask for consent on your first visit through Google’s consent dialog (IAB Transparency & Consent Framework); if you decline, you receive non-personalised or limited ads. Data may also be transferred to Google LLC in the USA.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time via “Privacy and cookie settings” in the page footer. You can also turn off personalised ads from Google in “My Ad Center”.
Cookies and browser storage
A session cookie is set only when you submit a form, so that notices such as “message sent” can be shown. Watch lists, the fund comparison selection and saved portfolios are kept only in your browser’s local storage and are not sent to us; you can delete them in your browser settings. Cookies used for advertising are described in the section “Advertising (Google AdSense)”.
Contact form
Name, e-mail address, subject and message are sent to us by e-mail so that we can answer your request. The IP address is processed briefly to limit the number of messages per period and prevent abuse.
E-mail updates and guide
For e-mail updates and the free guide we store the e-mail address, language, sign-up route, timestamps and confirmation and unsubscribe identifiers. The sign-up only takes effect after confirmation by e-mail (double opt-in); unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 30 days. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every e-mail. E-mails are sent via the e-mail service set up for the website.
Error reports
If you report a data error, we store the category, description, the page concerned and – only if you provide it – your e-mail address, in order to review the report and ask follow-up questions if needed.
Protection against abuse
Forms are limited in the number of requests per IP address and period; the IP address is only kept for the length of the respective time window. When the guide’s sign-up page is opened, the IP address is also compared with a public list of Tor exit nodes.
Calculators and portfolio analysis
Inputs in calculators and the portfolio analysis are processed only for the respective calculation and are not stored in a database. The rebalancing calculator runs entirely in your browser.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement (Art. 77).
